A Passion for Promotion

Nutshell founder Lisa Awrey has a practical and unique understanding of how words and images combine to convey information and impact audiences. Having spent more than ten years working in television news, she knows how to distill information, get to the point and strike a chord.

Besides broadcast journalism, Lisa is an accomplished filmmaker and visual artist, and has an extensive background in print media and public relations.  She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a film certificate from New York University. 

Lisa has been nominated for an Emmy Award for her work in broadcast news and has won a number of web design awards, including the Web Marketing Association’s Award for Legal Standard of Excellence and has also been honored with awards from the San Francisco Publicity Club and National Catholic Charities.

When she’s not Nutshelling, Lisa helps coordinate a volunteer outreach program in East Oakland that connects writers with high school students to help develop their writing and critical thinking skills.
